Prof Dr Usman Qamar is excited to announce the publication of my textbook “Data Science Concepts and Techniques with Applications, Second Edition”. At 500 pages, it comprehensively covers both fundamental and advanced topics related to data science, presents data pre-processing, classification, clustering, text and pattern mining, deep learning, regression analysis. It includes an introduction to the open source tool WEKA, the Waikato Environment for Knowledge Analysis. It also consists of over 300 chapter exercises.

Prof Dr Usman Qamar has been as appointed as a Founding Editor of the journal “AI and Ethics”. The first and the only individual from Pakistan to be on its board. “AI and Ethics” is the first journal of its type that debates and discusses the ethical, regulatory, and policy implications that arise from the development of AI.

The Department of Computer & Software Engineering, NUST College of E&ME in collaboration with KDRC hosted the 2nd IEEE International Conference on Digital Futures and Transformative Technologies. The conference received nearly 300 submissions from 17 countries. 62 papers were accepted in 7 tracks giving us an acceptance rate of 23% making it A* IEEE conference. The opening keynote was by Prof John A Erkoyuncu, Cranfield University, UK and the session keynotes by Prof Witold Pedrycz, The University of Alberta, Canada and Prof Thierry Denoeux, Université de Technologie de Compiègne, France, Prof Edward J., Columbia University, USA to name a few.
